There were human chains and demonstrations in several parts of the country including the capital on Tuesday to protest against the development of Bangabandhu’s sculpture. Speakers at the human chain demanded that the administration identify the opponents of the development of Bangabandhu’s sculpture and ensure punishment through proper investigation. At an equivalent time, most are urged to be vigilant to stop misinterpretations of faith .
Even on the primary day of the month of victory, the streets were abuzz with protests against the development of the sculpture of Father of the state Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On Tuesday (December 1) afternoon, various political, social and cultural organizations organized a person’s chain within the capital. The human chain extended from Doel Chattar to the supreme court .
At the top of the human chain, the speakers said, the sculpture of Bangabandhu isn’t just a portrait, but a logo of the spirit of the liberation war. There are demands for justice for those that oppose the development of the sculpture.
On the opposite hand, the leaders and activists of Juba League staged a protest procession against the development of the sculpture.
Meanwhile, those that want to harm the history and tradition with the misinterpretation of faith , won’t be tolerated in any way, the Education Minister warned. Dipu Moni.
Cultural activists also rallied in Sylhet. They demanded exemplary punishment for those that insulted the sculpture of Bangabandhu and therefore the spirit of the liberation war. During this point , workers of 11 organizations including Sammilita Sangskritik Jote and Sammilita Natya Parishad took part within the human chain program.
